Let's make and distribute
Furry Sex Comics

Consignment terms

I would really like to sell your original furry comic at my table!

What does consignment mean?

Consignment means that you leave your product with me, and neither of us get paid until the product actually sells.

Consignment changes nothing about your intellectual property. I have no rights to your work except for those needed to distribute it.

Consignment works even with tiny quantities, so it is a great way to experiment with selling comics. The worst thing that can happen is simply that your comic sells out.

You are allowed to ask for your product back at any time, and I am obliged to return it.

I already have physical copies of my comic:

If we're attending the same convention, the easiest way to give me your product is simply to drop it off.

Otherwise, please mail it to me at your own expense. Canada Post lettermail rates are quite cheap for small quantities of booklets.

I need somebody to print my comic:

I have a reliable 600dpi laser printer and I can produce 5.5" x 8.5" black-and-white copybooks at cost.

This is something you will have to pay me for up front, but it is very cheap. Each of my own zines costs around 30 cents to produce.

Setting a price

We will reach consensus on a final sticker price. I am pretty easygoing, but I might suggest that you raise your prices.

Most freelance artists have low self-esteem and habitually undervalue themselves. I am not going to sell anything at my table for less than $5.

I reserve the right to offer reasonable multi-buy and volume discounts on your behalf. It benefits everybody to encourage customers to sample multiple authors.

At the convention table

Believe it or not, Furry Sex Comics is entirely sexual in nature. It will only be available at conventions which have dedicated procedures for erotic product vendors. This typically involves an ID check at the door.

I may choose to stamp every item sold with a small, unobtrusive "Distributed by Furry Sex Comics" mark. This will only happen at the point of sale, so I will not deface your unsold inventory should you request it back.

I would love to display your contact information at my table. Please consider making a standard business card for yourself!

Splitting the money

I use an industry-standard 60/40 model. You get 60% of every sale and I get 40%.

This will be promptly sent to you via Interac e-transfer at the end of the convention. I will consider PayPal (or its competitors) for international artists only.

American artists: I am not opposed in principle to stocking your zines, but please be aware that there are two special factors working against you! PayPal service fees combined with the poor Canadian dollar exchange rate will result in you receiving less money than you think.

Getting your product back

If you want your unsold zines back, I will return them at any time upon request.

I will mail them through Canada Post at my own expense.

About my finances

I am a sole proprietor. Furry Sex Comics is not a corporation. As far as the CRA is concerned, my actual self is simply wearing a funny hat that says "Furry Sex Comics".

This means that I am personally on the hook for any illegal activity or tax irregularity, so please do not take actions that would make my life more difficult.

Many furry con vendors do not charge GST, HST, or PST. This is usually because these businesses are not lucrative and have never made $30,000 in a single year.

I make enough money outside of the zine industry that I am obliged to pay GST, HST, and PST. I will deal with this so you don't have to.

Content policy

Life is hard enough. I have no qualms about stocking controversial material as long as it is not literally illegal. Read my full content policy for more details.
