Furry Con Charity Tracker
Put Community First
The furry fandom has limited resources. How should we allocate them?
This webpage exists because I personally believe that 100% of furry con charity donations should be directed towards queer non-profits. For this purpose, I have aggregated relevant information about all of the major North American conventions I can find.
Like it or not, we are already a highly visible part of the queer community, and we have real political enemies who hate our freedom and happiness. Our conventions are wonderful institutions whose interests, I think, can only be advanced by solidarity.
How To Advocate Effectively
For anyone interested in affecting change on this topic, I currently recommend two approaches:
- Cons already want feedback from their attendees. Mention Pride, queer, and justice charities at con feedback panels and con feedback surveys.
- Send emails through public, open channels. Email is private and it conveys sincerity in a way that social media dunks don't achieve.
Here are my writing tips:
Ask forthrightly. Short, direct communications save everybody's time.
Don't be an asshole. Nobody is getting rich or famous off of being a furry con volunteer.
If you're local, say so. Being an actual or prospective con attendee makes your concerns much more credible.
Positive reinforcement works. Furry cons all talk to each other. Why not congratulate a con that already made a decision you like?
Respect the history. Furry cons currently support animal rescues because it was a pragmatic PR decision made by a persecuted group of volunteers in the 90s and 00s. Making different choices now doesn't mean that we don't value our elders.

Wrong information?
Please contact me if anything on this webpage is inaccurate.
Three con charities on this page work in the fields of human health and economic justice, but have no explicit queer or sexual health focus. Giving everyone a binary grade along these lines is a real oversimplification, but I have arbitrarily decided to assign these charities a "Half & Half" rating. Please use your own judgment to evaluate these situations.
